Time Flies, Friends…
Traditions. I love them! š I am religious about someā¦until this year. One is this tradition right here. Before my eldest’s swim meets, I get him a Caputoās sandwich so he has tasty food to look forward to during the meet. When I started this with him, I went down the list of their sandwiches and would bring him a new one each time. He tells me every single time how yummy they are followed by sincere gratitude. He is unbelievably good at showing genuine appreciation. He melts me. š
This year for me has been chalked full of learning, growing, pushing through fears. Itās been a tough yet rewarding year. I have a knack for getting lost in my work when I take on something new. I go all in and disappear from my family for a bit. I become hyper-focused on the new task at hand while I figure things out and regain my confidence. Turns out, when you take on two new jobs you never saw coming within months of each other, one of which is entrepreneurial and finding said confidence is a different beast from the traditional 9 – 5ā¦you also disappear from your family for longer than expected. At least thatās what happened to me. I found a lot of rabbit holes this year! š
This time of year tends to be more introspective for me. Itās insanely important to me to be there for my kids, to show up to their meets/their passions, to cheer them on, to explore the world with them, to sit at the dinner table with them and have a conversation, to be a shoulder to cry on when things get toughā¦to. be. there. I dropped the ball on some traditions this year, among other things. I am finding my way through the weeds, finding my focus, and working towards a new normal. Maybe it hits harder because it feels like we already lost a few years of their childhood through covid? I dunno. Time flies by, friends. Hug your kiddos for me. š

I absolutely LOVE Caputo’s! Living just a walk away from their Holladay location is pure bliss. We’re regulars, and every visit reinforces our appreciation for their top-notch service. Their staff is incredibly knowledgeable and beyond happy to help you in any way that they can. I highly recommend supporting Caputo’s and immersing yourself in their culture. You might even consider signing up for one of their classes!
Just a few of our favorite past times when there: Breakfast sandwiches along our walks, lunch out on their patio, jazz nights in the summer, our go to for meats and cheese to pair with wine along our way to Red Butte Concerts, perusing their aisles and finding the most unique treasures!
Taken straight from their website: “I feel it is important to carry on the tradition and constantly re-imagine what it means to be a purveyor of fine foods in the modern age.” ~Matt Caputo
