Assessor’s School 2023

Spent a significant part of last week at Assessor’s School, and I must say, it was a surprisingly awesome experience! Here are some key takeaways from my first experience attending Assessor’s School:

📊 The appraisal profession is evolving (I know this part is a broken record). Emphasizing data analysis, local knowledge, and effective storytelling. This is what clients are searching for! AppraisalEvolution

🗣️ Go out of your way to have conversations with the other professionals in your market. Communication is key. Networking

💻 Dive into data analysis and modeling. Consider using the ChatGPT code interpreter for experimenting and learning from large language models. Test and verify with clustering algorithms to identify optimal datasets. DataAnalysis ChatGPT

🐍 Python pairs well with GWR and multiple regression models. PythonProgramming

🕰️ Explore the historical Somers System from 1910, the first mass appraisal system based on the wisdom of crowds. WisdomOfCrowds

🌐 Land is 1/3rd of all assets. Accurate land values lead to better CODs and PRDs. RealEstate

🌍 ArcGIS Pro offers incredible capabilities, such as training it to identify building footprints, pools, out buildings, and more. ArcGISPro

🔄 Embrace “Vuja De” for fresh perspectives, creativity, and problem-solving. Cultivate expertise, creative thinking, and motivation. Innovation

📈 Leverage data to streamline assessments. DataDriven

After days of classes and thought-provoking conversations, I’ve delved into researching R programming. I am convinced it’s a game-changer for real estate visuals—I need this in my life! Cheers to learning new things and fostering creativity in 2024! 🥂
