“Regardless of how familiar you are with the process, emotions run high.” -Tanya Bates 😍“Buying is romance, and selling is finance.”🤑 I heard this on a podcast and I love it! ❣ Such a simple way to explain the contrasting emotions you feel when buying or selling a home. It’s nothing short of amazing a meeting of minds actually happens, and properties transfer owners. Reminds me of when we sold our home and bought a new one back in

🎧 Just finished listening to an incredibly insightful podcast that dove into the world of neighborhood development and its historical roots. While appraisal wasn’t the focus (the word wasn’t even mentioned!), its principles were woven throughout the discussion, sparking some profound reflections. 💡 A favorite key takeaway for me was the impact of federal government policies dating back to the 1920s on today’s housing challenges. Zoning regulations and economic segregation stemming from that era have significantly shaped our neighborhoods,

In these situations, simply use common sense. 💡 Appraisers must remain independent, impartial, and objective. This is a benefit to literally everyone involved in real estate and essential to a trustworthy real estate market. 🤓 #UtahRealEstate 🏠 #EducationInRealEstate
Assessor’s School 2023 Spent a significant part of last week at Assessor’s School, and I must say, it was a surprisingly awesome experience! Here are some key takeaways from my first experience attending Assessor’s School: 📊 The appraisal profession is evolving (I know this part is a broken record). Emphasizing data analysis, local knowledge, and effective storytelling. This is what clients are searching for! #AppraisalEvolution 🗣️ Go out of your way to have conversations with the other professionals in your
A Little Research Goes A Long Way I wish appraisal consulting was more prevalent. I encountered a home for sale that was significantly overimproved. It was originally listed 90% higher than the median sales price in the area. It eventually sold after 3 months but for only 35% above the median sales price. This was during a red-hot market where homes were going under contract in just a few days. The size of the home was comparable with its immediate
